"beastie"


            The "little uns" whisper of a snake-like thing a "beastie". When I first heard of this thing I did not really acknowledge it like the older boys. A few days later during the assembly the boys began to speak of the beastie again. The little uns described the beastie as a snake-like thing as they did before. Of course jack says he is going to kill and doesn’t care what it is. Ralph and I are sort of on the same page. He thinks of the beastie as the little uns imagination and I just do not believe in such things. Simon says it is them, but I cannot quite understand what he means by that. - Piggy

 

           I think the beastie is not real. I know it symbolizes the fear in the boys. I personally agree with Simon's suggestion. He suggests the beast is them. The longer the boys stay on the island the more they become more beast like. - Sabrina

chapter 1

Dear Diary,   Day 1 - after being in that terrible plane crash I landed on an island or a place, I don't even know if this is an island. All I can remember is seeing the front half of the plane in flames. The next thing I knew I was in water or sand cant even remember.   As I shifted through the mass amount of foliage, I saw a thin figured boy with fair hair. The boy seemed older than me, more fit. From that moment on I felt relieved to see another person.   so, I cleaned my specs on my wind breaker and smiled at the thin boy hoping to befriend him. I told the thin boy of my thoughts of what may have happened. I asked   for his name and he answered, but he was not quiet interested in mine. I had a feeling he wanted to play but, I quickly informed him of my asthma. I felt my stomach as it started to hang, so I went off to get some fruit. Later I returned to ralph and asked if he had called for any others and suggested it would be best if we know of all their names. R

Dear diary, As I lay on the hot sand I look up into the sky and see a black dot and something brown. Turnouts it was just water and sand on my glasses. I watched the little uns play while still laying on the sand and rubbing the sand off on my shorts. I see a blur of two boys I know its ralph and Simon building huts because I was just helping them. I decided to take a break. If all the other boys are why can't I.   I later see jack coming from the woods looking very pale. Ralph is very aggravated with him. I think ralph is taking out all his anger on him because we weren't helping. It is not my fault I get tired. Now he knows what it is like to be left behind with all the work to do. Jack needs to be set straight he thinks he is leader when he is not.     Maybe ralph is just annoyed. Hopefully all the huts will be done by tonight because I do not want to sleep on sand again.
